Description with 14 photos. Photo: Finn Bertelsen. A low, compact, twiggy, evergreen shrub. Young shoots with light and dark, short-stipitate scales. Petiole scaly, 1.9 – 2.4 mm. Leaf blade linear to narrow oblanceolate, with revolute margins and depressed midrib, to 20 x 4 mm. Apex obtuse rounded, with mucro. Leaf base cuneate to acute. Leaf upper side dark green, with scattered light scales. Leaf lower side fawn, with scales in multiple layers. The uppermost scales brownish, the underlying pale yellow. Scales lacerate, stipitate, c. 240 micrs. in diameter. Flower bud widely spindle-shaped, with scaly and ciliate bud scales. Pedicel scaly, 1.5-2 mm. Calyx lobes slightly scaly, ciliate, 1.5-2 mm. Corolla yellow (information from a local farmer). Ovary densely scaly and puberulent, 2.4 mm. Style glabrous?. Seeds with narrow wings and small floating appendages, 0.7-0.9 mm. Locality of origin: Muli County, Sichuan, China at 3000 m.
